To celebrate the launch of her book, The Art of Love, Kate Bryan meets the Founder of @thegreatwomenartists, Katy Hessel to share stories of women artists overlooked by their more famous partners. They talk about the ‘little wife curse’ that affected Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Frida Kahlo (look who is laughing now), Anni Albers, Kay Sage and Dorothea Tanning. They’ll also move beyond to more successful examples of equal and fair artist partnerships. The Art of Love profiles 34 artist couples over 150 years exploring the passionate, challenging and loving relationships behind some of the world’s greatest works of art and revealing both the magical and dangerous effects that two artists in a romantic relationship can have on each other’s work.
Marguerite members will have the opportunity to have their book signed, receive a bonus chapter censored by the Chinese government and to buy the book at an exclusive discount.
This event is open to ticket buyers, Marguerite, Marguerite II and Marguerite 1938 members. Tickets will go on sale and the members’ guest list will open on Monday 20 May.
